From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Breathless Trilogy comes the first novel in the Enforcers series—a bold new direction in erotic romance that explores the games men and women play, and the price they’re willing to pay for pleasure.
What he wants, he takes with no remorse or guilt.
She stood out in his club like a gem, unspoiled and untouched. A lamb among wolves, she clearly didn’t belong. Drawn to her innocence he watched as she was surrounded by men who saw what he did—but no one but him could touch her. He summoned her to his private quarters. He sensed her fear. He also recognized the desire in her eyes. And he knew she wouldn’t leave before he possessed her. She had no need to know his secrets. Not until he had her under his complete and utter control.
What he wants, she isn’t sure she can give him.
The moment he told her want he wanted, she couldn’t resist. Instinct told her to run, but her heart said stay and walk the fine line between pleasure and pain. Though she wasn’t sure she could ever completely surrender, the primal part of her wanted to try, even knowing this man could break her in ways she never imagined. Because once he possessed her, he owned her and it would be too late to turn back. She can only pray that he doesn’t destroy her in the end.
Okay, where to start....... I for one am a HUGE Maya Banks Fan.. H..U..G..E... and if I am being honest, which I am. I was a little disappointed..... Now before you stop reading... Please let me explain why......
I love the whole idea and the whole plot. I feel that the characters Evangeline and Drake were perfect, I loved how she interacted with the other guys so well and how she made them all fall in love with her..
BUT my biggest thing that got to me was the fact that like the whole first 20% of the book I had to skim. I hate doing that... I feel if i read to fast or skin I miss important key parts, but in Mastered... no it was just was too wordy. There were so many times where it flowed so nice and I was loving it, but then too many words to explain things that didn't need the word count that was provided.
The sex was good, some parts made me think of other books that had similar scenes, but I enjoyed how BDSM was a part of his thing. I loved how Drake was a true to the bone Alpha male and that Angel was a total submissive with a mouth. I really loved how he made her feel special, important and that she has nothing to be self-conscious about....
I really do think anyone who hasn't read this, should read it, I mean it is Maya Banks we are talking about here... Be prepared for a cliffhanger that is a major cliffy and be prepared to be pretty miffed at Drake. But i guess that gives you a reason to read the next book to see how he redeems himself right?? Right!
Here is my 3.5 star review!
