❤❤ Thanksgiving Tales and Treats❤❤

To celebrate Thanksgiving in the United States, we've asked some of our favorite authors to share Thanksgiving tales from their books and their favorite Thanksgiving recipes!

We're going to start with our own Magan Vernon and a special SNEAK PEEK in the Forever Sweet series that doesn't come out until December 30th!

Paige kept her hand on my thigh the entire drive to Cade's family's place. It wasn't in an effort to try and get in my pants, or I'm sure she would have. But there was something I felt comfort in and ended up putting my hand on hers the rest of the ride.

Cade's family lived on the outskirts of town down a gravel road that dead ended at an old cemetery.

Their home was an old, antebellum style place that looked right out of the Civil War-era. That is, if the Civil War had a bunch of cars in various stages of repair in the front lawn and peeling paint on the once white columns.

I parked behind my parents in the circular drive and turned toward Paige. "You know, you could just say the word and we could head back to Texas. I'll even get Denny's Thanksgiving special for you somewhere on the way."

She squeezed my leg. "No. We're doing this. Come on! It'll be my first real Thanksgiving."

I raised an eyebrow. "Don't you celebrate? Is it a religious thing or something?"

She rolled her eyes. "My family is just from Turkey and never really celebrated the American holiday. Sometimes we would go to my dad's clients’, but mostly it was just another day that Dad had to close the shop and would be pissed about it."

"Oh," I said because there wasn't much else to say. I didn't know much about this girl's family.

But part of me wanted to. Part of me wanted to know everything about this girl that had captured my heart.

And since it's a sweet book, Magan is sharing her recipe for Pecan bars to add to your Thanksgiving menu!

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg, beaten

  • Heat oven to 350°F.

Unroll dough and press in bottom and 1/2 inch up sides of a 9x13-inch pan.  Firmly press perforations to seal.  Bake 8 minutes.

Meanwhile, in medium bowl, mix remaining ingredients. Pour filling over partially baked crust.

Bake 18 to 22 minutes longer or until golden brown.

Cool completely, about 1 hour, and cut into bars.

    About The Author

Magan Vernon has been living off of reader tears since she wrote her first short story in 2004. She now spends her time killing off fictional characters, pretending to plot while she really just watches Netflix, and she tries to do this all while her two young children run amuck around her Texas ranch.
