Synopsis

Everly wasn’t excited over her impending meeting with the enigmatic Prince Sage. Being one of only four women from whom the Prince gets to choose in marriage was never something she valued. Her goal was to politely and elegantly remove herself from a forced wedding due to long standing traditions. Handsome Prince or not, she won’t marry for anything but love.

Once Sage proceeds to the next candidate, Everly finally feels she can move forward with her life. On her own terms. That is, until she receives a mysterious request, asking her to solve a riddle, taking her on a night she’ll never forget.

A fervent adventure ensues, and attraction builds as the excitement of the night unfolds. Sparks fly in more ways than one just as she finds out who’s stealing her heart.

I've never read this author before, so as I've said many times, I jumped at the opportunity. the synopsis about the royals really grabbed my attention, add in the spice of a new author and I was ready to go.

I immediately got sucked in to this story. immediately connecting with the characters, the snooty father and prince required to marry. yet we have the eligible bachelorette, who has to be there yet doesn't want to really be there. and this, my friends, is where our main characters meet and come together. only there's a bit of a surprise that we get to learn more about later in the book, all about how their paths really crossed before.

I really loved Everly. defiant, honest , true to herself, and bold . prince sage was fighting so hard to be the man he wanted and not what his father wanted him to be, pushing to help others because it was such a calling you him . yearning to do more for the less fortunate, something both our characters really had in common.

I think what really grabbed my attention about these two is it wasn't instant love. it could have been but wasn't. Ms Runow chose to let them surprise each other, including themselves, along the way. not only did we get to see their relationship develop, we get to see them do it. fighting the press and their families, showing their true selves to the public and each other. falling.

now don't get me wrong, their relationship did feel a tad rushed tome . I mean, hello boat. that was quick. but, it wasn't like they just met. still, it felt quick. I would have really liked to see more of them together before that. more development. the only other thing I didn't really like was Marie. I know, find me someone who does, right?? I just don't know about the just trust me thing . but again, they just met. how can she trust him? though, one could argue, how could she not?

either way, I think this is a cute quick read. I really liked it and was happy to meet a new to me author.

3.5 stars from me
