❤❤ RELEASE DAY BLITZ + EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY + DUAL REVIEW of DESERTION by RIVER SAVAGE ❤❤

Title: Desertion (Knights Rebels MC #3)
Author: River Savage
Release Date: July 14, 2015

SYNOPSIS

Honor.
Courage.
Commitment.

Three things Jesse Carter has lost. A former Marine, Jesse used to stand proud of his achievements
and live by the code. But when circumstance made him question everything he believed in, those
most basic values didn’t feel so important after all.

Sex.
Lies.
Knights Rebels.

Three things Jesse Carter has found. Reborn into a brotherhood not so different from the one he left
behind, Jesse finds it all too easy to block out his past and claim the role as the Rebels' fun loving
player.

Until he meets Bell.

Shy, awkward, and with troubles of her own, Bell Johnson's no stranger to hiding her pain. When
Jesse forces himself into her life, she’s at risk of her defences crumbling.

Does Bell have the strength to survive Jesse and his demons or is she fated to become another
casualty in the self-destruction of Jesse Carter?

EXCERPT

I wake up to the heat of someone’s palm against my shoulder. Twisting around, my hand moves faster than my brain, and I snatch it off me.

“Jesse, it’s me, Bell,” she rushes out before I can take it any further.

“Fuck.” I release my grip on her arm and sit up, forcing myself back to the here and now.

“Did I hurt you?” I reach for her searching for any sign of a mark left by me.

“It’s fine. You barely touched me.” She holds her arm out letting me inspect it. I check it over one more time before releasing her and relaxing.

“You wanna talk about it?” I study her face, eyes calm, soft mouth. She’s not freaking out.

“Just some shit that visits my dreams sometimes, nothing that needs to touch you,” I reply, shocked I’m not retreating.

“I don’t mind, Jesse,” she pushes, and I almost cave. Almost.

“The last thing I want to do is talk about this shit, Bell.” She doesn’t argue or press, and I’m grateful for it. I don’t think I’d be able to keep my cool if she did.

“Come back to sleep.” She lies back down and I follow her. She doesn’t ask me any more questions, or make me feel like I need to tell her everything.

“That ever happens again, don’t wake me,” I warn. A menacing thought strikes through me picturing
what could have happened if I didn’t wake in time. She’s lucky I didn’t hurt her, like the last time a
woman touched me while I had a nightmare.

“You don’t always have to be so brave, Jesse.” Her hand moves to my dog tags. I don’t stop her. I’m
starting to like the feeling of her hands touching them.

“Never tried to be, Bell. But talking doesn’t help me. Never has.” I think back to the time when I did try and it forced me out of control. Talking about those triggers only amplified my insecurities. When death sits afar, mocking you in the dangerous confines of your surroundings, it fucks with your head; nothing was going to change it.

Besides, my issues weren’t what I had done. They were what I had survived. My conscience wasn’t clear and my honor wasn’t clean.

“Promise me you won’t touch me.” I keep my tone even, controlled.

“I promise.” I take her hand in mine and bring it to my lips. Maybe one day I will let someone in.

Let her in.
Today isn’t that day.
But today, I didn’t push her away.
That has to count for something.

SERENA'S REVIEW

So I just finished Desertion last night. I was going to write my review after I finished, but I felt like I needed to think about it a little bit more. I have so many feelings about Jesses story, I am going to try and explain the best I can.

I absolutely loved Jesse and Bell plain and simple. I love them. Lol I can't say that enough. I really think River got down to the nitty gritty of what it's like to go through what Jesse has been through. Jesse was setting himself up for failure the biggest thing he's been trying to change due to what he went through growing up. Bell, what to say about Bell. She has been through a lot as well, but completely different then Jesse. They truly need each other to make each other better.

I love how River makes you want them to succeed in being better people and to get through EVERYTHING they have experienced. There were times where I was laughing, smiling, sad and hurting for them. I l enjoyed seeing glimpses of how everyone else is doing as well. I love how everyone in the group love each other and how they are a huge family. They really did help Jesse and Bell a lot.

With all of that said there was one thing that I  felt wasn't a 100% positive. I feel like the ending was rushed. When I got to the epilogue I felt like the epilogue itself should have been a chapter and that there should of been maybe 2 more chapters before the epilogue. Please don't get me wrong. I LOVED this book. I would recommend this book to everyone to read. River is such a talented writer and truly sucks you into her stories that this is still a 5 star review for me even with how I feel about the end being rushed. If you love sexy dirty dirty talking alpha men who will do anything for the one the love then buy this book. I know I can't wait for the next Knights Rebels book!! Thank you for continuing the story River!!

Jesse and Bell. Jesse and Bell. We've waited a long time for this story, and now we know why. There is so much going on with this book.  Bell has her own stuff she's dealing with and Jesse is loaded with demons from his past haunting him. Both have the past weighing on their present and future, letting it determine who they are.

River has taken our fun loving Jesse and really cracked him open for our love and care. And how can you not just love this character after you read all about who he is, what's happened to him, and how he is with the kids and ladies. Now I'm not going to say he's perfect. The stuff he said, the way he lashed out when hurt, even my heart hurt. Even I gasped when reading that. Even I felt like my heart was crushed. I was pulling for him, rooting for team Jesse and that made me rethink my stance. He's so far from perfect. He spends so much of the story being an asshole, much more than being a good guy. Or trying to be a good guy.

And bell. How can you read her story, what her family has been through and not feel your heart break just a little. Goodness river really went for the heart strings on this one. But I also love that she gave us a strong woman for Jesse. Not some meek house cat, bell has fire and sass. And is exactly what Jesse needs. She grows through the story.

River did an great job with this book. She delivered a strong story line with looks into the couples we already know and love, but let's us fall in love with a new one. I'm not going to say I was happy with the whole story, for a large majority I was. But I also spent some time pissed off.  River sucks you into this story and you won't want it to end, you'll want more. Now, the end, to me, felt rushed. We had all this build up through the whole book. Wrongs that needed righted. I needed to see him work harder because what he did hurt, deep. The end just felt rushed to me. Maybe it's because there was such a build up for Jesse and Bell, I just wanted more. Maybe it was because of her sister. Maybe it's because River writes so amazingly well I am addicted. Either way I just needed more of an epilogue. I needed more effort, more make up, more from Jesse after what he pulled. So I both loved and hated him. I have given this story 4 stars.
