My marriage seemed perfect from the outside looking in.
People envied me. They wanted my life, wanted to be me.
Mrs Alejandra Gambino.
Wife of Dino Gambino. Daughter of Eduardo Castillo.
Respected. Loved. Mob royalty.
They had no idea of the horrors that lurked behind closed doors.
They didn't know I was at the lowest point a person could reach.
Enter Julius Carter.
Aloof, handsome, blue-eyed Julius Carter.
He saved me.
I screwed him over.
Now everybody was after me. My life was forfeit.
It was only a matter of time. I was a dead woman walking.
The question was, who would get to me first?

I'm sitting here really contemplating how I felt about this book. I wanted to squee and jump up and down and rave about it, but sadly I can't say that's my reaction. it kinda is , but it isn't. but it is, but it isn't. I'm in a real dilemma here folks.
You see Julius and Alejandra, they were strange to me. add in Ling and... Ummmm. .. okay, I'm confused. I feel like Ling was always this viper in lipstick that at one point sounded like a petulant toddler throwing a fit because she didn't want to share her toys with the other kids at day care. I know that sounds harsh, but it was my honest reaction. going back to our two main characters themselves, I liked them.. then didn't. I think I was more confused from the rollercoaster of emotions they flew through so quickly. one minute she's suicidal, then she's in love? then it's all good and were coasting on awesomeness ...and suddenly it's not anymore. bounce. umm...what?!?!? I feel like, when looking at their relationship alone, I kind of got reader whiplash.
the whole mob/underground thing was a bonus. especially when we find out exactly what Julius does and who he is. but again, i felt a lot of confusion keeping all these seedy characters straight and how they were linked. I also kind of lost interest in the play by play of every interaction with Black. I don't know why but I just kind of lost interest. this realization broke my heart. because this is Raw #2. and raw #1 is hands down one of my favorite books. one of the hottest and most heartbreaking I've ever read. ever. but I don't feel like this one lived up to its predecessor. and that burns to say. I feel like she forgave him way too easily. I hope , hope ,hope to all thing literary I love book 3 as I did 1.
I don't want you to think it was a bad book. It was hands down absolutely not. But it just wasn't the same caliber as RAW, so I feel let down. With RAW, I couldn't put it down and it left me with such a hangover. With DIRTY, it fell short. The writing is style amazing, and sexy and hot, and addicting, but ... I just didn't love love it. Maybe it's my undying devotion to Twitch. I don't know. Again, thus my dilemma. I will end with this. Man I hate Ling now more than any other character I've met before. Someone needs to kill the bitch....slowly..
I could only give this 3 stars
