Wicked for You by Shayla Black
Dee's Review; 4-4.5 stars

Another "searingly sexy"* romance awaits in the latest Wicked Lovers novel from the New York Times bestselling author of His to Take.

Ever since he rescued her from a dangerous kidnapper, Mystery Mullins has wanted Axel Dillon. When he returned her to her Hollywood father and tabloid life, she was grateful…and a little in love. Mystery wasn’t ready to let Axel go, even after the soldier gently turned her away because, at nineteen, she was too young.

Now, six years later, Mystery is grown, with a flourishing career and a full life—but she’s still stuck on Axel. Disguised, she propositions him in a bar, and the night they spend together is beyond her wildest dreams. Mystery steels herself to walk away—except the sheets are barely cold when her past comes back to haunt her.

Once he realizes Mystery isn’t the stranger he thought, Axel is incensed and intrigued. But when it’s clear she’s in danger, he doesn’t hesitate to become her protector—and her lover—again. And as the two uncover a secret someone is willing to kill for, Axel is determined to claim Mystery’s heart before a murderer silences her for good.

This book was so intriguing for me. And the way Shayla intertwined the love story with the mystery was so flawless and smooth.

There were bits and pieces they felt a little drug out. But all in all I loved what Shayla did with this. I love the way she took two people who were so deeply betrayed by those who are the most important people in our lives, and built on those insecurities. She used them in the plot line for their relationship, but also used it against them in the plot line for the mystery aspect. So I love that there was that underlying link. But I also love what Axel can do behind closed doors. At Dominion or not, this Dom is hot hot hot!

I did find myself getting mad at Mysterys fight or flight response always being the same. We want what we want, but we won't fight. We immediately let our insecurities rule our decisions. No communications. Just fight or flight. And I would get mad. She knew what that meant to Axel, how that made him feel. But all she cared about was what she saw. It infuriated me Bc of everything he did for her and what they had already discussed.

The Heath storyline kind of makes me sad. I wanted more for him. But I am also down right flabbergasted and surprised with where Shayla took the story of her moms death. I just am so surprised. That was a twist in the plot line I did not see coming. Didn't see it, but totally loved it. If you want a book with phenomenal balance of sexy and mystery - this is it.

Definitely 4-4.5 stars
