Synopsis:
Millie Cross knows what it's like to burn for someone. She was young and wild and he was fierce and even wilder-a Chaos biker who made her heart pound. They fell in love at first sight and life was good, until she learned she couldn't be the woman he needed and made it so he had no choice but to walk away. Twenty years later, Millie's chance run-in with her old flame sparks a desire she just can't ignore. And this time, she won't let him ride off . . .
Bad boy Logan "High" Judd has seen his share of troubles with the law. Yet it was a beautiful woman who broke him. After ending a loveless marriage, High is shocked when his true love walks back into his life. Millie is still gorgeous, but she's just a ghost of her former self. High's intrigued at the change, but her betrayal cut him deep-and he doesn't want to get burned again. As High sinks into meting out vengeance for Millie's betrayal, he'll break all over again when he realizes just how Millie walked through fire for her man . . .
I am not lying, KA made me cry. She made me angry and sad and heartbroken and frustrated and scared and she made me CRY. I want to sit here and scream "how could you!?!" But in reality, my heartbreak over what Millie did, it was almost necessary. It burned, it hurt but it was almost necessary for them to get to where they were in their relationship.
I know what you're thinking... but through this book..this was my heart..
I am still a little confused with Deb. I don't know any women like her, do they really exist? Cause, still now, I don't understand her. I had my head cocked to the side almost every time I read a scene with her in it. Though the same goes for Venezuela. I still don't understand his play there. I'm curious how that will play out.
I had one small concern. To me, it felt like we were in too many people's heads. We're bouncing around between characters a lot and it took away from High and Millie. As much as I love all the other characters, it walked the fine line of too much. The first half of book was intriguing and addicting, the second half seemed watered down a little. The drama disappeared, well, it became.... mild. I needed more and I was impatient to get it.
I do love the way KA flashed between old life and new life. And how Millie finally broke and got everything off her chest. That was perfection. Especially after the bar scene and what the boys did to her. It was great to see her get that part of herself back and just let it go, get it out.
And these two together...Good god. I can still FEEL the book. It's still on my brain a week later. Maybe it's because the characters are older in life, and THANK GOD we finally get that. Maybe it's because of what Millie did for High. Maybe it's because of how long she walks through fire for him and he doesn't know. I don't know.. but when it happens. When they happen...it's all sorts of AMAZING.
I know we love KA and Chaos, how can we not, and this book surely doesn't disappoint. I liked it, A LOT. It just wasn't my favorite KA or Chaos book. Though, in begging, can someone kill the douche bag please?
4 stars for me!
