❤❤ Where Darkness Lies by Bella Jewel - Dual Review by Dee and Carrie- 4.5 star review ❤❤

Anger and pain brought them together, but their passion might just set them free.

Dimitri wants only one thing: revenge. His stepfather, Hendrix, has caused him nothing but pain and heartache. At last Dimitri can take something—someone—important to Hendrix and make him pay: Jess.

Jess is feisty and strong headed. Her past haunts her and connects her to the dangerously dark Dimitri in an unexpected way. Dimitri keeps his secrets locked deep inside, and Jess is drawn to this broken man like no one before.

With little to cling to besides their haunting pasts, both could have been doomed to lives spent raging against the darkness that holds them prisoner. Instead, it seems that as their pain draws them closer together, it is their desire that will set them free

Check out my 4 star review of Enslaved by the Ocean, book one, HERE

Bella has this writing style that just wows me. The story of Dimitri and Jess is amazing. We see two people who are so broken and damaged but complete each other so amazingly and completely. They have these fucked up backgrounds that will break your heart, but are learning to trust each other in spite of them.

There was one thing I didn't like. One small thing, that I really really didn't like and was like a thorn in my side. I didn't like that Jess picked up the nickname that Livvie used for Dimitri. I wish they would've had something that was all theirs and not tainted by her. I really really didn't like Livvie in the beginning, by the end... HATE. HER. She did enough, way more than enough, to deserve some bad karma. And I'm also kind of mad we don't know where she went or what or how her consequences will be handed to her. Let's be honest, after all that, we deserve to know.

We get to see just a little bit more of Hendrix and Indi, and who wouldn't love that. I love the relationship between Jess and Hendrix, and love that we get to see into her past and how she met Hendrix. I absolutely adore Jess and her character. She has this inner strength that just didn't cease to amaze me. Everytime she was thrown something that you think would be too much for her, the girl knocked it out of the park without a doubt. And Dimitri is a man who needs a strong woman like that. A woman who understands his past, and can help him with it.

I loved our characters in this book. While I couldn't relate to them and their experiences , I clicked with the story right away. I couldn't put it down. Immediately addicted. I read it in one sitting and stayed up just to be sure I could find out how it ended.

I give it 4.5 stars

Love love love this book!! I actually enjoyed it more than the 1st! Bella took an idea and created a unique story that the indie world hasn't seen. I loved Jess and Dimitri's story..and of course Hendricks.. But if you want something different these books are for you.

Two broken souls, mended by trust and courage. Jess represents a fighter that doesn't give up and Dimitri had more love in his heart than he knew existed.

Dimitri has been seeking revenge against Hendrix for the past 10 years- He knew that Jess was important to Hendrix, he saw it in his eyes when he captured her, but what he didn't know was that he needed Jess more than anything.

You saw their relationship build from the start. Jess NEVER gave up hope that she would be freed. Dimitri NEVER mistreated her to the point where she was scared. Providing her with luxuries that no prisoner would receive. Jess has such a deep scared past that something about this Dimitri drew her into him. Although she attempts to escape multiple times,  she always ends up in the arms of Dimitri even at the worst times.
